My experience adopting an adult pet has been very rewarding. She’s a very calm dog at home, affectionate with people, has a good appetite, loves snacks, car rides, and walks in the park. We’ve established feeding and walking routines. Her only mischief has been trying to go through the thrash can because it had food scraps in it; I know now I need to keep it covered. I want to mention that on our walks we’ve run into Carey, and my pet’s excitement is evident in her jumping for joy, which I interpret as a sign of the good care she received at the shelter.
